Thiruvananthapuram: The on-camera lynching of a young Muslim man in Kerala went viral this week. It was in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram that a Muslim youth named M V Shabeer was lynched by a gang and the video of four men beating Shabeer with clubs on Sunday, near here was even aired on national television. While the police called it a gang war, a local temple here had a reason to mourn.
Shabeer, who was in his early 20s was a regular contributor in organising annual festival and prayers at a Shiva Temple here.

As a mark of respect to Shabeer, the temple office-bearers, on Monday and Tuesday refrained from blowing the conch and ringing the bell. The temple even cancelled the compulsory five pujas for two days, reported The Indian Express.

Though Shabeer was rushed to hospital by passersby; he died there of his injuries.

A man who filmed the gruesome killing had said that since he did not feel safe to help Shabeer, he filmed the killing as an evidence.

The men who assaulted him have been arrested.
