Kerala is set to launch a pioneering urban policy aimed at managing its unique rural-urban mix over the next 25 years. The Kerala Urban Policy Commission (KUPC), formed last year, recently submitted an interim report focused on economic growth, job creation, and urban planning reforms. With over 47% of the state’s population already urbanized, projections indicate that by 2035, more than 90% will reside in urban areas. The policy aims to serve as a model for other Indian states.
