Khammam district collector Mujammil Khan has rolled out a thoughtful new initiative called “Girl Pride”, aimed at promoting the significance of girl children and cultivating positive attitudes toward their birth in society.
Under this program, district officials will personally visit families where a girl child has been born. They will congratulate the family members and present sweet boxes as tokens of celebration. The initiative intends to drive home the message that the birth of a girl is a joyous, auspicious event worthy of acknowledgment and happiness.
At a meeting held at the Khammam collectorate on Saturday, March 22, collector Mujammil Khan briefed district-level officers about the goals of the program. He emphasized that “Girl Pride” is crafted to dismantle age-old prejudices and nurture a culture that honors and respects girls.
The visits and celebrations under the program are scheduled to begin next week.
In parallel, collector Khan also issued directives focusing on student welfare, particularly targeting those appearing for their 10th-grade board exams. He instructed officials to visit the homes of these students every evening, monitor their exam preparedness, and interact with their parents. This effort is aimed at ensuring students receive the necessary academic guidance and emotional support during this crucial period.
The dual approach of celebrating girl children and supporting students underlines the district administration’s commitment to fostering a progressive and supportive community.
