Patna: Popular educator Faisal Khan, widely known as “Khan Sir”, and two of his private security guards have been named in an FIR in connection with an alleged firing and vandalism incident outside his coaching institute in Patna on June 2.
The development comes days after a group of around 15 to 20 people allegedly vandalised the premises of Khan Global Studies Institute and pelted stones at the coaching centre, triggering tension in the area.
Security guards detained and arrested
According to police sources, two security guards detained in connection with the incident claimed during interrogation that they had opened fire following instructions allegedly given by Khan Sir.
The guards have been identified as Pradeep Kumar (38) and Talebar Singh (34), both residents of Uttar Pradesh. They were reportedly employed through a security agency based in Noida.
During questioning, the guards allegedly told investigators that a physical altercation had taken place outside the coaching centre and that the situation escalated after a crowd gathered at the location.
Police said the two men claimed they fired two rounds each from their licensed .315-bore rifles during the incident.
Weapons seized for forensic examination
Authorities have seized the firearms allegedly used during the incident and sent them for forensic examination.
Police officials confirmed that the guards were formally arrested after questioning. During the investigation, they also produced valid arms licences for the weapons in their possession.
The firing incident came to light after a video circulated widely on social media, prompting police verification and subsequent action.
Investigators are examining the footage as part of the ongoing probe.
Khan Sir to be questioned
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that Khan Sir has been named in the FIR and will be questioned during the course of the investigation.
However, police have not publicly disclosed the specific charges under which he has been named.
Officials emphasised that the investigation is still underway and that all allegations are being examined based on evidence and witness statements.
Rival coaching angle under scrutiny
Following the vandalism incident, Khan Sir had alleged that individuals associated with a rival coaching institute may have been responsible for the attack on his coaching centre.
However, he later stated that only a police investigation could establish the actual facts behind the incident.
Meanwhile, members of another coaching institute have reportedly accused Khan Sir of staging the episode, adding another layer of controversy to the case.
Police are investigating all angles, including the circumstances that led to the vandalism and the subsequent firing incident.
Investigation continues
Authorities are continuing to collect evidence, analyse forensic reports and record statements from those involved.
The outcome of the forensic examination of the seized weapons and further questioning of the accused are expected to play a key role in determining the course of the investigation.
Officials have urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the investigation to proceed based on facts and evidence.
