Reaffirming his party’s commitment to national security, AICC president M Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday extended Congress’ support to the Centre in its fight against terrorism, while urging the BJP-led Union government to work collectively for the country’s greater good.
Highlighting that the nation stands above religion and language, Kharge said, “The country is important. Leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and myself may not be around forever, but the country must remain and stay united.”
Kharge also expressed concern over Prime Minister Modi’s absence at the recent all-party meeting convened to discuss India’s response to the Pahalgam attack.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar emphasized that protecting the nation remains Congress’ priority. “All lives are important. The Congress Working Committee has clearly stated it will support the Union government’s stance towards Pakistan,” he noted.
When asked about Modi’s absence, Shivakumar said only the Prime Minister could answer that and urged the media to cooperate in promoting peace across the country.
