KN Nehru hits back at EPS, cites Thoothukudi firing to question his credibility

Municipal Administration Minister KN Nehru lashed out at AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), stating that the former CM had no moral authority to question the DMK government over the custodial death in Sivaganga. Speaking to reporters in Tiruchy, Nehru recalled EPS’s controversial remark during his tenure — where he claimed to have learned about the 2018 Thoothukudi police firing only through TV news.

“Someone who claims ignorance about a police firing that killed 13 people as CM has no right to talk about police brutality now,” Nehru said, accusing EPS of political hypocrisy and insincerity in his response to the Sivaganga custodial death.

Nehru also reaffirmed that the DMK would reveal seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming elections at the appropriate time, with CM MK Stalin making the final decision. He said the DMK would continue its membership campaign while raising awareness about the Union government’s betrayal of Tamil Nadu on key issues like the NEET exemption and imposition of Hindi.

“Even BJP-ruled Maharashtra has opposed the three-language policy. Why should Tamil Nadu be silent?” he asked, reinforcing the DMK’s anti-central government stance.
