A minor aspiring to be a model accused a professional photographer of slapping her after she refused to pose indecently during a photoshoot in Kolkata’s Golf Green area earlier this month. Despite paying ₹50,000 for the session, the girl alleges she faced harassment when she declined to wear inappropriate outfits and adopt objectionable postures.
The incident reportedly occurred on November 2. Following a complaint by the girl’s family, police summoned the accused for questioning under Section 12 of the POCSO Act, which deals with sexual harassment and carries a maximum penalty of three years. The accused has complied with the notice, as arrests under this provision require prior summons for investigation.
The girl’s lawyer, Sukanta Biswas, revealed she has been receiving threatening calls since the incident. Authorities are also probing whether this case is linked to an alleged network targeting minors and aspiring models, as a similar complaint surfaced last October.
Police are investigating the harassment case but stated they are unaware of recent allegations involving threats. The case highlights the vulnerabilities faced by young aspirants in the modeling industry.
