KOZHIKODE — A tragic landslide at a construction site near the Kozhikode Bypass in Nellikode on Sunday morning claimed the life of a migrant worker, identified as Elanchar, a native of West Bengal.

The incident unfolded suddenly while construction activity was underway. Two other migrant workers who were buried under the debris were rescued alive and rushed to the hospital. Though initially in critical condition, both have since stabilized and are currently recovering.

Fire and rescue teams, along with local police, responded swiftly to the scene. Nearby residents were evacuated from the vicinity as a precautionary measure due to the unstable conditions of the surrounding soil.

Rescue operations are still ongoing, with authorities working cautiously in the area, which remains vulnerable to further land movement. The tragedy has renewed concerns over construction safety standards, especially in landslide-prone zones.
