Two people—a lawyer and a teacher—were killed in separate shootings in Patna and Saran districts of Bihar on Sunday, police confirmed.

In Patna’s Sultanganj area, lawyer Jitendra Mahto was gunned down near a tea stall around 2 pm by unidentified attackers. He was rushed to a nearby government hospital but died during treatment. His body was sent for post-mortem. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Senior police officials, including Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, visited the scene, and a case has been registered.

In another incident in Saran’s Bisahi locality under Daryapur police station, teacher Santosh Rai and his friend Kangress Rai were ambushed by two bike-borne gunmen around 9:30 am while travelling by car. Both were taken to a hospital, where Santosh Rai died, and Kangress is receiving treatment. Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the shooters
