A 23-year-old lawyer died after allegedly jumping from a court building in Kanpur, leaving behind a deeply emotional note in which he described years of distress caused by what he called his father’s excessive strictness.
The deceased was identified as Priyanshu Srivastava.
Incident inside court premises
According to reports, Priyanshu jumped from the fifth floor of the court complex.
He was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said CCTV footage reportedly showed him speaking on the phone shortly before the incident.
Painful final words
Before the incident, Priyanshu allegedly shared a handwritten note through WhatsApp status.
In the note, he reportedly said he had faced severe emotional pressure since childhood and felt suffocated by constant control over his life.
He also wrote the line, “I lost, Papa won,” and requested that his father should not touch his body after death.
Authorities are investigating the case and have not officially authenticated the full contents of the note.
Raises concern on harsh parenting
The tragedy has sparked discussion about the emotional effects of fear-based parenting and constant pressure.
Experts say discipline should be balanced with empathy, listening and emotional support.
Children and young adults often need understanding, trust and space to express themselves without humiliation or fear.
Community in shock
Lawyers and others at the court reportedly described Priyanshu as quiet and reserved.
His death has left many deeply disturbed.
