MALAPPURAM: In a heartwarming twist of fate, a gold chain lost 25 years ago by Amina, a resident of Kallarakunnu Colony, has been miraculously recovered, stirring emotions and admiration across the locality.
The 4.5-sovereign chain, originally worth around ₹25,000 at the time, was rediscovered during a cleanup operation at the Pilapparambu quarry near Ramapuram School junction. The task was part of a routine effort carried out by workers under the Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Amina had lost the chain while doing laundry at the old washing ghat in the quarry. Despite days of desperate searching and fervent prayers, the treasured ornament seemed lost forever—until now.
The chain was found in pristine condition, untarnished by time or terrain. Upon further inquiry, the workers traced its ownership to Amina, wife of Machingal Muhammad. With disbelief and overwhelming joy, the family welcomed back the long-lost heirloom that had once seemed beyond reach.
The incident has left the community in awe—not just of the discovery, but also of the honesty and integrity shown by the scheme workers who reported and returned the valuable item without hesitation.
For Amina and her family, this is more than just the return of a piece of jewelry — it’s a restoration of faith.
