Lucknow: A shocking case of campus violence has emerged from Amity University, Lucknow, where a law student was brutally assaulted and abused by his classmates inside a vehicle parked in the university’s campus.
The incident
The victim, identified as Shikhar Mukesh Kesarwani, was allegedly attacked on August 26. A viral video of the incident shows Shikhar being slapped nearly 25–30 times in just 90 seconds. The footage also captures a male student and a woman repeatedly assaulting him, while hurling abuses and threats.
When Shikhar tried to shield himself, the attackers forced him to lower his hand, warning: “Move your hand away from your face, or you will be beaten even more.”
Complaint and FIR
According to Shikhar’s father, his son was picked up by a friend in her car while on his way to college. After reaching the university parking area, the accused students allegedly entered the vehicle and subjected him to 45 minutes of physical assault and verbal abuse. They also broke his phone and threatened him with further harm if he returned to the campus.
Deeply shaken by the incident, Shikhar has reportedly stopped attending classes.
Following a complaint by the victim’s father, the police registered an FIR against five students. Senior police officer Dinesh Chandra Mishra confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the matter.
University response
As of the time of reporting, Amity University has not issued any official statement regarding the assault. The motive behind the attack also remains unclear.
Trauma and outrage
Shikhar’s father told the media that the ordeal left his son traumatised. “My son is terrified and refuses to go back to college after the incident,” he said, demanding strict action against the culprits.
The case has sparked outrage on social media after the video went viral, with many demanding accountability from both the institution and law enforcement.
