Bhopal, October 15, 2025: In a significant move to bolster road safety across the state, the Madhya Pradesh government has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with esteemed institutions. The Public Works Department (PWD) has partnered with IIT Madras and the SaveLIFE Foundation to implement advanced, data-driven road safety measures in 55 districts. This initiative was announced during the ‘Road Safety Workshop 2025’ held at the RCVP Naronha Academy of Administration and Management in Bhopal.

Key Highlights of the MoUs

Collaboration with IIT Madras

The MoU with IIT Madras focuses on integrating cutting-edge technology into road safety management. The collaboration aims to:

  • Develop Smart Infrastructure: Implementing intelligent traffic management systems and smart signaling to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion.
  • Data Analytics: Utilizing data analytics to identify accident-prone zones and optimize road designs accordingly.
  • Research and Development: Conducting joint research to innovate sustainable materials and construction techniques for road infrastructure.

Partnership with SaveLIFE Foundation

The MoU with the SaveLIFE Foundation aims to:

  • Emergency Response Training: Training citizens and first responders in life-saving techniques to improve survival rates in road accidents.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Launching statewide campaigns to educate the public on road safety norms and the importance of adhering to traffic rules.
  • Policy Advocacy: Collaborating with policymakers to strengthen road safety legislation and enforcement mechanisms.

Launch of ‘Sanjay App’ and Data-Driven Interventions

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the ‘Madhya Pradesh Data Driven Hyperlocal Interventions and Sanjay App’ during the workshop. The app is designed to:

  • Real-Time Reporting: Allow citizens to report road hazards, accidents, and traffic violations in real time.
  • Data Collection: Gather data on traffic patterns and accident hotspots to inform policy decisions.
  • Public Engagement: Engage the community in road safety initiatives and encourage active participation in maintaining road discipline.

Vision for Safer Roads

Chief Minister Yadav emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing road accidents and fatalities. He stated, “Implementing technology-driven solutions and fostering community involvement are pivotal in creating safer road environments.” He also highlighted that the PWD is undertaking several innovations to enhance road safety across various sectors.

Future Road Safety Initiatives

The Madhya Pradesh government plans to expand these initiatives by:
