Former Intel India Country Head Avtar Saini Killed in Cycling Accident in Navi Mumbai

Mumbai: Former Intel India country head Avtar Saini tragically lost his life after being struck by a speeding cab while cycling in the Navi Mumbai township of Maharashtra. The incident occurred around 5:50 am on Wednesday, as Saini, aged 68, was riding his bicycle along Palm Beach Road in the Nerul area.

According to police officials, the speeding cab collided with Saini’s bicycle from behind, causing severe injuries. Despite immediate efforts by fellow cyclists to rush him to a nearby hospital, Saini was declared dead upon arrival.

Saini, a resident of suburban Chembur, was renowned for his contributions to the development of Intel’s 386 and 486 microprocessors, as well as his leadership in designing the Pentium processor.

An FIR has been registered against the cab driver under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rash driving and causing death by negligence, along with provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. However, the accused driver has not yet been apprehended, according to officials from the NRI police station.

The untimely demise of Avtar Saini has left a void in the technology community, and his contributions to the field will be remembered and revered by colleagues and industry peers alike.
