Yavatmal: The Yavatmal police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, accusing him of sedition and other offenses. The charges stem from an alleged objectionable article written by Raut against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the party’s publication ‘Saamana.’ The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Nitin Bhutada, the BJP’s Yavatmal district coordinator.

Details of the Case:

The FIR was filed at Umarkhed police station in Yavatmal against Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut, who serves as the executive editor of ‘Saamana.’ The complaint, lodged by Nitin Bhutada, accused Raut of writing an objectionable article against Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 10. The case has been registered under IPC sections 124 (A) (sedition), 153 (A) (promoting enmity between different groups based on religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.), and 505 (2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will between classes).

Police Response:

The Yavatmal police have acknowledged the complaint and registered the case based on the allegations made against Sanjay Raut. An official stated that a thorough investigation into the matter would be conducted. This development comes as a legal response to the alleged offensive article published in ‘Saamana,’ and the case is expected to undergo a comprehensive inquiry as part of due legal process.
