A man from Deverar village in Jind district, Haryana, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly issuing a death threat to the state’s chief minister in a WhatsApp group. The accused, identified as Ajmer, reportedly made the threat on October 8, the day of the state vote counting.

Jind Superintendent of Police, Sumit Kumar, confirmed that an FIR was registered as soon as the police became aware of the incident, leading to Ajmer’s arrest. The incident came to light after the message was shared in the group, causing concern.

The incident occurred in Julana, where Congress candidate and wrestler Vinesh Phogat won the assembly seat, defeating BJP’s Yogesh Kumar by a margin of 6,015 votes.
