A 69-year-old man collapsed and died while giving evidence in a civil court on Saturday, causing shock among court staff, advocates and litigants present at the time.
The deceased has been identified as Krishna Pawar (69), a resident of Gudur village in Ilkal taluk of Bagalkot district.
Incident inside courtroom
According to officials, Krishna Pawar was standing in the witness box and deposing in connection with a private civil case when he suddenly collapsed. Court staff and advocates immediately rushed to assist him.
He was shifted to Vivekanand Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
Family background
Krishna Pawar is survived by his family members. His son, Santosh Pawar, is currently serving as a police inspector in Haveri district.
The sudden death left family members and those present in court deeply shaken.
No foul play suspected
Preliminary information suggests that Pawar may have suffered a sudden medical emergency. There were no immediate indications of foul play, officials said.
Further formalities are being carried out as per procedure.
