A 24-year-old man lost his life after a dispute over loud music at a wedding ceremony escalated into violence in Harijanpur village under Sikriganj police station limits on Tuesday night.
The deceased, identified as Munib Chauhan, sustained severe injuries during a scuffle that broke out at a marriage function held at Balchand’s residence.
Argument over DJ volume turns violent
According to police and eyewitnesses, an argument erupted between two groups over the volume of the DJ music. What began as a verbal altercation quickly turned into a physical clash.
During the scuffle, Munib was critically injured and reportedly fell unconscious at the spot. Family members and villagers immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors described his condition as critical. Despite medical treatment, he later succumbed to his injuries.
FIR registered, arrests made
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s sister, Saroj Devi, police registered an FIR against five individuals, including three named accused.
Superintendent of Police (South) Dinesh Kumar stated that appropriate legal sections have been invoked and assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible. Two accused have been taken into custody for questioning, while police teams are searching for the remaining suspects.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the village to maintain law and order and prevent any further escalation.
The incident has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a joyous occasion, highlighting how minor disputes can spiral into tragic consequences.
