A 33-year-old man died after suddenly falling ill while breaking his fast with a packaged fruit drink in Haryana’s Faridabad, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The deceased, identified as Ankush, was reportedly observing a fast on Thursday night and was at home with family members in the Hanuman Nagar area when the incident occurred.

According to family members, Ankush consumed a packaged fruit beverage while breaking his fast. Shortly afterwards, he allegedly began vomiting and complained of severe stomach pain. His condition deteriorated rapidly, causing concern among relatives.

Rushed to multiple hospitals

The family immediately took him to a nearby private hospital for treatment. However, due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors referred him to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital in Faridabad.

Medical staff at the civil hospital reportedly advised that he be shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital for advanced treatment. While arrangements were being made to transfer him, Ankush’s health worsened significantly.

Family members said he died while being taken for further treatment.

Police awaiting post-mortem report

Station House Officer Devendra Singh of Khedi Pul police station said authorities received information from Sarvodaya Hospital at around 1.30 am that a man had been brought dead.

During preliminary questioning, the family informed police that Ankush had been fasting and had consumed the drink before developing severe symptoms.

Police have recorded the family’s statement and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Following the necessary procedures, the remains were handed over to the family.

Officials stressed that the exact cause of death has not yet been established. Police said conclusions would be drawn only after the post-mortem report is received and examined.
