A 42-year-old man lost his life after a wall of his house collapsed on him during demolition work in Badchhapper village under the Bas area of Hansi district.
The deceased has been identified as Sombir. According to reports, he was dismantling a portion of his old house to make way for new construction when the incident occurred.
Wall gives way during rooftop work
Police said Sombir was demolishing a wall of a room on the rooftop when it suddenly gave way, trapping him under the debris. Family members and nearby residents rushed to the spot and managed to pull him out from beneath the rubble.
He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Hansi. After preliminary treatment, doctors referred him to Hisar Civil Hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Despite sustained medical efforts, Sombir succumbed to his injuries late Friday night.
Case registered as accidental death
Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family on Saturday. Based on a complaint filed by his wife, Tara, Bas police station initiated proceedings under accidental death.
Sombir is survived by his wife and children. The sudden loss has left the family devastated.
Villagers have appealed to the administration to extend financial assistance to the bereaved family, stating that Sombir was the sole earning member and had been working to improve their living conditions when the tragedy struck.
