In a shocking incident from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, a 35-year-old man reportedly suffocated to death after swallowing a live chick—an act villagers suspect was linked to occult practices.

The deceased, identified as Anand Yadav from Chhindkalo village, collapsed at his home after returning from a bath. Family members reported that Anand complained of dizziness before fainting. He was immediately rushed to the Medical College Hospital in Ambikapur, where he was declared dead.

The cause of death puzzled doctors initially, but during the post-mortem, a startling discovery was made. Dr. Santu Bag, who led the autopsy, revealed that a chick, measuring approximately 20 cm, was lodged in Anand’s throat. It had obstructed both his airway and food passage, leading to asphyxiation. “In my career of over 15,000 post-mortems, I have never encountered a case like this,” Dr. Bag said, expressing disbelief at the findings.

Villagers believe Anand may have swallowed the live chick as part of a ritualistic practice influenced by a local occultist. Reports suggest Anand had been struggling with infertility and may have resorted to superstitious measures in hopes of becoming a father.

Local authorities have been notified, and police have initiated further investigations to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the incident. This tragic episode underscores the dangers of superstitions and occult practices still prevalent in rural areas.
