Telangana: A shocking road rage incident in Ranga Reddy district has sparked outrage after a man was dragged for nearly 2 kilometres on the bonnet of a moving car by a driver attempting to flee the scene.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Meerpet Police Station following a collision between a car and a two-wheeler.
Argument escalates into dangerous act
According to police, the car allegedly rammed into a two-wheeler from behind, triggering a heated argument between the driver and the victims—identified as Faisal and his father, SK Jilani.
As tensions escalated, Jilani stood in front of the car in an attempt to stop the driver from leaving. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the driver suddenly accelerated, forcing Jilani onto the bonnet.
Dragged across busy stretch
Eyewitnesses said the driver continued speeding without stopping, dragging Jilani along a busy road stretch from Balapur Chowrasta towards Mandamallamma Chowrasta.
The entire incident was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation over the reckless act.
Locals intervene to stop vehicle
Alert commuters and bystanders eventually intervened and managed to stop the car, preventing further harm. Their timely action is believed to have averted a more serious outcome.
Driver absconds, victim’s son injured
Amid the chaos, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. Faisal sustained injuries during the initial collision and subsequent altercation and was shifted to a private hospital for treatment.
His condition is reported to be stable.
Police launch investigation
Meerpet Police have registered a case and initiated a search operation to trace and apprehend the accused driver. Officials are analysing CCTV footage and the viral video to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify those involved.
