Rajkot: A man was detained by the Porbandar Local Crime Branch (LCB) after suspected adulterated milk was allegedly prepared and stored at his residence in Timbinesh village under the Kutiyana police station limits.
Police recover milk and raw materials
Acting on a tip-off, an LCB team raided the residence of Sarman Kodiyatar, located near Jay Mataji Milk Dairy, on Friday.
According to police, the team recovered around 30 litres of suspected adulterated milk from the house. Officials also seized 75 kg of skimmed milk powder, including two sealed 25-kg bags and two partially filled bags.
Fourteen tins of palmolein and other materials allegedly used in preparing the suspected adulterated milk were also recovered during the raid.
Food safety officials collect samples
Following the seizure, the LCB informed the food safety officer, who collected samples of the suspected adulterated milk for laboratory testing.
The remaining liquid described as ‘milk’ was destroyed at the spot, police said.
Legal action has been initiated against Kodiyatar under provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The case highlights concerns over the safety and quality of milk products, with authorities continuing to act on information about suspected food adulteration.
