A man suffered serious injuries after a nylon string became entangled around his neck while he was riding a motorcycle at Chaderghat in Hyderabad on Wednesday, triggering fresh concerns over the dangers posed by loose strings on city roads.
The injured man has been identified as Ashok, a resident of Malakpet. According to preliminary information, he was riding his bike through the Chaderghat area when a nylon string suddenly struck his neck, tightening around it and causing profuse bleeding.
Traffic constable rushes victim to hospital
A local traffic constable, M Kranthi, who noticed Ashok bleeding heavily, immediately intervened and rushed him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors admitted the victim and began medical care to control the bleeding and assess the extent of his injuries.
Hospital sources said Ashok is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be stable, though doctors are continuing to monitor his condition.
Repeated warnings ignored
Incidents involving nylon strings, often associated with kite-flying material, have been reported repeatedly in Hyderabad and other cities, especially during festive seasons. Such strings can pose severe risks to two-wheeler riders, pedestrians and even birds, leading to deep cuts and, in some cases, fatal injuries.
Despite periodic warnings and enforcement drives by authorities, the use of dangerous nylon strings continues to be reported from various parts of the city.
Police urge caution
Police have urged residents to avoid using or discarding nylon strings in public spaces and appealed to kite flyers to use only safe, cotton-based strings. Motorists have also been advised to remain cautious, particularly in areas known for kite flying or where loose strings may be present.
Officials said further awareness drives and enforcement measures would be intensified to prevent similar incidents in the future.
