In a disturbing case from Pune’s Chinchwad, an eight-year-old boy was abducted by an acquaintance who intended to sell him for ₹50,000.

The accused, Gajanan Panpatil (25) from Buldhana district, had allegedly asked the child’s mother to sell her son. When she refused, he resorted to kidnapping. He lured the child with chocolates and biscuits before taking him to Chalisgaon while the parents were away at work.

The child’s disappearance raised suspicion, prompting his parents to alert the Chinchwad Police. Investigators swiftly traced Panpatil using CCTV footage and coordinated with Bhusawal Police, the Railway Protection Force, and Chalisgaon Police. The accused was intercepted at Chalisgaon railway station and brought back to Pimpri Chinchwad for interrogation.

Authorities are now probing whether Panpatil was operating alone or was part of a larger trafficking network. Shockingly, he has two children of his own, raising further concerns about his motives. The rescued child has been reunited with his family.
