India: A dramatic rescue unfolded at a railway station after a man became trapped between a train and the platform, prompting bystanders to join hands in a desperate effort to save his life. Unable to free him by pulling him out, people at the scene eventually broke a section of the platform, allowing rescuers to safely extricate him.

The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, has drawn praise for the swift response and collective efforts of those present.

Man trapped between train and platform

According to eyewitness accounts shared online, the man became severely wedged in the narrow gap between the stationary train and the platform.

Hearing his cries for help, passengers and other people nearby rushed to the spot in an attempt to rescue him.

Several individuals tried to pull him free by holding his hands and shoulders, while others encouraged him to remain calm. However, the gap was so narrow that the rescue attempts proved unsuccessful.

Crowd joins rescue effort

As the man’s condition became increasingly concerning, more people gathered at the scene to assist.

Realising that conventional efforts were not enough, rescuers decided to remove a portion of the platform near where the man was trapped.

Using available tools and collective effort, they broke part of the platform edge, creating enough space to carefully pull the man to safety.

The rescue was completed without further injury being reported in the viral footage.

Video gains attention online

The incident has attracted widespread attention after videos of the rescue circulated on social media.

Many users praised the quick thinking and teamwork displayed by the people present, describing the rescue as an example of humanity prevailing in a critical situation.

The video has also renewed discussions about passenger safety at railway stations and the importance of exercising caution while boarding or alighting from trains.

Railway safety remains crucial

Railway authorities regularly advise passengers to avoid attempting to board or disembark from moving trains and to remain behind the safety line while waiting on platforms.

Accidents involving gaps between trains and platforms, though relatively uncommon, can result in serious injuries and require immediate rescue efforts.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement identifying the man or providing details about how he became trapped.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of public awareness, quick emergency response and community support during critical situations.
