A Delhi-based AIIMS radiologist, Dr. Suvrankar Datta, has accused IndiGo Airlines of negligence and inefficiency after a distressing experience on his Bangalore-Delhi flight.
In a widely shared X post, Dr. Datta detailed how the airline’s inaction caused him discomfort and frustration. Being prone to fluctuating sugar levels, he had pre-ordered a sandwich to ensure he ate on time. However, despite repeated follow-ups, the cabin crew failed to serve his meal.
After nearly half an hour of silence, he inquired again and was told another attendant would assist him, but no one did. As his hypoglycemia symptoms worsened, a kind co-passenger offered her sandwich. Agitated by the situation, he pressed the emergency call button, yet still received no response.
When the pilot announced the descent, his meal remained undelivered. Frustrated, he questioned what would happen if a passenger faced a life-threatening emergency and was ignored.
IndiGo issued an apology, acknowledging the lapse and promising corrective measures. However, social media users expressed outrage, with some urging travelers to carry their own food. Others slammed the airline for subpar service and poorly trained staff.
The incident adds to IndiGo’s growing list of customer grievances, sparking debates on airline accountability and passenger care.
