Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with a unique chess memento — the original handwritten scoresheet of Uzbek Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov from the 2025 FIDE World Cup final held in Goa.
The scoresheet is from Sindarov’s historic victory over China’s Wei Yi and serves as a reminder of the young grandmaster’s remarkable rise in international chess.
Sindarov made history in Goa
Sindarov defeated Wei Yi 1.5-0.5 in the tiebreak after the two classical games ended in draws, becoming the youngest-ever FIDE World Cup champion.
His victory also secured a place in the 2026 Candidates Tournament, bringing him closer to a chance at the world championship.
The Uzbek star went on to achieve another major milestone in April 2026, winning the Candidates Tournament with one round still remaining. The victory set up a world championship challenge against reigning champion Gukesh D, according to the supplied report.

Modi also presented a silver floral brooch for Mirziyoyev’s daughter and a marble inlay box containing a Banarasi silk stole for his wife.
