New Delhi: Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term on Sunday, matching the record of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The grand ceremony took place on the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 74-year-old leader, who first assumed the role of Prime Minister in 2014. Modi, taking the oath in the name of God, was met with enthusiastic applause from the large assembly of guests, which included prominent leaders from various foreign nations.

Senior BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, J P Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Nirmala Sitharaman were sworn in as cabinet ministers in the new government. The ceremony was witnessed by over 8,000 guests, featuring dignitaries from neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region, including Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Maldives’ President Mohamed Muizzu, and Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The event also saw the presence of prominent business magnates Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, along with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge from the Opposition’s INDIA bloc. Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar were also in attendance, adding a touch of glamour to the occasion.
