On December 10, 2024, veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu was accused of assaulting a journalist at his residence in Jalpalli, Rangareddy district, following a confrontation over a family dispute. The incident occurred around 7:50 pm while media personnel were covering tensions between the actor and his son, Manchu Manoj.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the journalist, along with other reporters, had been invited inside the actor’s residence to report on the ongoing situation. However, things took a violent turn when Mohan Babu allegedly became aggressive towards the journalist. The actor reportedly snatched the journalist’s microphone and phone, using foul language and striking him with the microphone, which was said to have a steel pipe and metal logo. This attack left the journalist with a severe head injury, causing significant bleeding.
The journalist immediately sought medical attention and was taken to Trident Hospital in Shamshabad, where he received treatment for his injuries. He has since requested legal action against Mohan Babu. A case was filed at 10:55 pm the same night, and Sub-Inspector B. Dayakar Reddy of Pahadishareef Police Station took the journalist’s statement.
Currently, the investigation is being handled by Sub-Inspector of Police (SIP) V. Laxmaiah. The incident, which took place during a period of heightened media scrutiny over the actor’s family disputes, has garnered significant attention and led to serious allegations against Mohan Babu.
