New Delhi: A Special CBI Court on Saturday, July 27, sent controversial Hyderabad-based businessman Sana Satish Babu to five-day Enforcement Directorate custody in a money-laundering probe involving controversial meat exporter Moin Qureshi.

Special CBI Judge Shailendra Malik granted 5 days’ custody to the agency.

The agency had sought 14 days custody of the controversial businessman.

Advocate Mohd. Wasey Khan appearing for Babu told the court that his client has been cooperating with the ED from the beginning and joined the probe. “He came to the ED office yesterday and they arrested him,” the defence counsel added.

He further argued that Babu was a star witness in the case and is now an accused while the Main accused, Moin Qureshi is out on bail.

The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday said it arrested Satish Babu Sana in connection with a money-laundering probe involving controversial meat exporter Moin Qureshi.

A senior ED official confirmed to IANS the arrest, but refused to share further details. Sana was arrested from Delhi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, the official said.

Sana, a Hyderabad-based businessman, is a close aide of the meat exporter. His role came to light late last year after he gave a statement under Section 164 accusing senior Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials of taking a bribe in lieu for help in a corruption case.

Sana gave the statement during the infighting between then CBI Director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana.
