The India Meteorological Department (IMD), however, has not specified when the monsoon current is expected to enter the national capital.

Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather Services stated, “The monsoon is expected to reach Delhi on June 29 or 30.” The monsoon typically arrives in Delhi between June 27 and 29.

Last year, the monsoon reached Delhi on June 26, while the first monsoon showers of 2022 were recorded on June 30, according to data.

On Wednesday, the Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.

A western disturbance has influenced the city’s weather, causing a drop in the maximum temperature. Delhi has been experiencing pre-monsoon showers, which have provided some relief from the intense heat.

So far, Delhi has endured nine heatwave days in June, compared to none in 2023 and 2022.
