In a deeply tragic incident from Udhampur district of Jammu, a woman died after going into shock upon learning about the accidental death of her son, officials said on Sunday. The twin deaths have plunged the family and the entire village into mourning.
The deceased youth has been identified as Irshad Ahmed, a resident of Larana village under Ramnagar Panchayat in Udhampur district.
Youth dies after fall from tree in forest
According to officials, Irshad Ahmed had gone to a nearby forest area to fetch timber when he accidentally fell from a tree. The fall proved fatal, and he died on the spot. Local authorities were informed soon after the incident, and necessary procedures were initiated.
Police officials stated that the incident appears to be accidental in nature, with no signs of foul play.
Mother collapses after hearing tragic news
Soon after Irshad Ahmed’s death was conveyed to his family, his mother, Zaitoon Begum, reportedly went into shock. Overwhelmed by the sudden loss of her son, she collapsed at home.
Family members and neighbours rushed her for medical assistance. However, despite efforts by doctors, she passed away at the hospital, officials confirmed.
Village plunged into grief
The back-to-back deaths of mother and son within a short span have left the residents of Larana village devastated. Locals described the incident as heart-breaking, saying the family has been shattered by the unimaginable loss.
“This is a tragedy that has shaken the entire village. Losing a son and then a mother within hours is something no family should have to endure,” a local resident said.
Police complete formalities
Police officials said all necessary legal formalities have been completed in both cases. Authorities reiterated that no foul play is suspected in either death.
The incident has once again highlighted the emotional toll sudden tragedies can take on families, especially in rural areas with limited access to immediate medical and psychological support.
