In a horrifying act of violence, a woman was fatally stabbed, and her daughter was left fighting for her life after a youth attacked them at their home in Kommadi, Visakhapatnam.
The incident occurred in Swayamkrushi Nagar on Wednesday when Naveen, a resident of Madhurawada, forcibly entered the house and assaulted Nakka Deepika after she rejected his romantic advances. When her mother, Nakka Lakshmi (43), tried to intervene, he stabbed her to death before fleeing. Deepika, severely wounded, is in critical condition at a hospital.
Swift police action led to Naveen’s arrest in Srikakulam within three hours. Special teams were deployed under City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi’s orders.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to ensure Deepika receives the best medical care. Home Minister V. Anitha also directed strict legal action against the accused. District in-charge minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjeneya Swamy affirmed the government’s commitment to women’s safety, assuring there would be no leniency in such cases.
