Hyderabad: The Telangana Food Safety Department conducted inspections in Hyderabad’s Madhapur area on Thursday uncovering concerning violations at popular eateries.
One such establishment, the Madhapur outlet of Bengaluru’s popular eatery joint Rameshwaram Cafe, was found to be storing and potentially serving expired food items. Inspectors seized 100 kilos of urad dal (expired in March 2024), 10 kilos of curds, and 8 litres of milk, all past their expiry date.
The cafe’s hygiene practices also raised red flags. Food safety officials found improperly labelled raw rice (450 kilos), white lobia (20 kilos), and unlabelled jaggery (300 kilos). Additionally, the restaurant lacked proper medical fitness certificates for food handlers and had uncovered dustbins.
Another Madhapur restaurant, Baahubali Kitchen, faced similar scrutiny. Inspections revealed the use of synthetic food colours, a significant cockroach infestation, and a lack of pest control records. Unhygienic kitchen conditions, improper food storage in refrigerators, and missing documentation like Medical Fitness Certificates and the FSSAI License copy further compounded the issues.
Task force team has conducted inspections in the Madhapur area on 23.05.2024.
