Mumbai: Local train services on the Central Railway routes were significantly disrupted early Monday morning, and several roads across Mumbai were waterlogged after some areas received more than 300 mm of rainfall overnight, officials reported.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a statement in the morning, predicting continued heavy rain throughout Monday. To avoid inconvenience to students, the BMC declared a holiday for the first session of the day for all BMC, government, and private schools and colleges within the Mumbai municipal limits.

“The decision for the next session will be announced after reviewing the situation,” the statement added.

Suburban train services on the Central Railway were severely affected due to waterlogged tracks on both the Main and Harbour corridors. According to authorities, the civic body’s disaster management department reported that suburban services on both CR corridors resumed operations at 6:45 am.
