The Mumbai Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) arrested three men from Bihar in possession of illegal weapons, including three country-made and three foreign-made pistols, along with 67 live rounds of ammunition. The accused, identified as Abhishek Kumar Anjani Kumar Patel (26), Siddharth Subodh Kumar Suman alias Golu (23), and Rachit Ramshish Kumar Mandal alias Pushpak (27), were apprehended in the Pydhonie area.

Acting on a tip-off from constable Amol Ramchandra Todkar, the police laid a trap near Prabhu Hotel. The accused, who had traveled to South Mumbai to sell unlicensed weapons, were intercepted while carrying backpacks containing the arms and ammunition. The police also seized two empty magazines during the operation.

The three men were taken into custody and brought to the Pydhonie police station, where a case was registered against them under relevant sections of the law. Authorities are now verifying their past criminal records in coordination with local police stations in Bihar.

On Friday, the accused were presented before the court, which remanded them to police custody until December 4. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Mumbai Police to curb illegal arms trafficking in the city.

The arrests underscore the critical role of intelligence and swift action in ensuring public safety. Investigations into the source of the weapons and the accused’s network are ongoing.
