Mumbai: Mumbai police officials intensified security cover at the grand wedding of industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani with Radhika Merchant at Bandra-Kurla Complex on Saturday after Mumbai police were alerted by a netizen regarding a suspicious post on X (formerly Twitter) talking about ‘a bomb at the Ambani wedding.’
The wedding between Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant took place amidst grandeur at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on Friday.
The post in question, attributed to a user identified as @FFSFIR, speculated, “A shameless thought crept into my mind that if a bomb went off at Ambani’s wedding, half the world would turn upside down. Trillions of dollars in one pin code.”
While no FIR has been lodged, Mumbai Police are actively seeking the individual responsible for the tweet posted on July 13, focusing on determining their motives, stated a police spokesperson.
Though authorities perceived the message as a hoax, they opted to exercise caution, enhancing security measures around the BKC venue during the wedding events which concluded on Sunday. The police’s social media monitoring team continues to investigate the matter, despite no formal charges being filed yet.
The alert regarding the tweet was received by police on Saturday night.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding receptions spanned Saturday and Sunday, attracting numerous dignitaries from around the globe.
Previously, Mumbai Police detained two individuals for trespassing at the wedding venue without invitations. Identified as Venkatesh Narasaiya Alluri, a YouTuber, and Lukman Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, who claimed to be a businessman, both were subsequently booked under separate cases. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, they were released after legal formalities were completed.
The arrests occurred after security personnel observed their suspicious behavior upon entry through different gates.
