A 30-year-old man from Maharashtra died after suffering a heart attack in his sleep while on a holiday with friends in Ajmer, cutting short a group trip to Rajasthan and leaving fellow travellers in deep shock.
The deceased has been identified as Sunny Joseph Lodha (30), son of George Lodha, a resident of Saikrupa MHB Colony in Ambernath, Maharashtra. He was part of a group of 19 friends who had come to Rajasthan on a leisure and pilgrimage tour.
Found unresponsive in hotel room
According to police, the group was staying at Hotel Star Twinkle near Delhi Gate in Ajmer, where four rooms had been booked. After visiting the Ajmer Dargah on the night of January 24, the group returned to the hotel, had dinner and went to sleep.
On the morning of January 25, friends tried to wake Sunny Joseph Lodha but received no response. They found his body cold and immediately alerted hotel staff, following which he was rushed by ambulance to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead.
Doctors confirm heart attack
Police said doctors confirmed that the cause of death was a heart attack suffered during sleep. The body was kept in the hospital mortuary, and post-mortem formalities were completed. The body was later handed over to his friends and taken to Mumbai on Sunday evening.
Ganj police station constable Kaushal Singh said the group had arrived in Ajmer on January 24 after visiting Khatu Shyam Ji and touring Jaisalmer.
Trip ends in tragedy
The group had planned to visit Pushkar and Jaipur next. However, the sudden death of their friend brought the Rajasthan tour to an abrupt and tragic end.
The incident has left the victim’s family and friends devastated, highlighting once again how sudden medical emergencies can strike even young individuals without warning.
