TRICHY: A new toilet complex was inaugurated in Gandhinagar village, under the Nagamangalam panchayat, on Saturday by the nonprofit SCOPE as part of its ‘UNBOUND’ project. The initiative aims to improve sanitation and environmental health in rural areas.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Block Development Officer R Thangapandiyan, SCOPE Director M Subburaman, CEO Indumathi Radhakrishnan, and panchayat representatives. They collectively urged villagers to actively use the new facility and end the practice of open defecation.
Women were specifically encouraged to adopt proper menstrual hygiene practices, while all residents were advised to reduce plastic use to support a cleaner, greener village.
