A rescue operation was underway in Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Monday after a nine-year-old boy fell into a borewell while flying a kite and became trapped at a depth of around 40 feet, officials said.
The boy, identified as Bhanu, son of Shishram Gurjar of Butoli village, had reportedly fallen into the borewell while flying a kite.
Rescue teams race to reach the boy
Police said efforts were being made to rescue Bhanu by digging a parallel tunnel alongside the borewell.
Three JCB machines have been deployed for the excavation work, while oxygen is being supplied continuously to the child inside the borewell.
The rescue operation had been underway for around three hours when the officials provided the update.
Villagers gather as rescue continues
Teams from several police stations have reached the site and are assisting with the rescue efforts.
A large number of villagers also gathered at the spot as officials worked to reach the trapped boy.
Authorities are continuing the operation, with the focus on safely bringing Bhanu out of the borewell.
