The Noida Police on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with a year-old video showing a child seated on the bonnet of a moving luxury car, officials said.
According to the police, the arrest was made by Bisrakh Police Station after authorities took cognisance of the video, which had resurfaced on social media. The accused has been identified as Ankit Pal, a resident of Gaur City 2, who was driving the car at the time of the incident.
Officials said the footage depicted a dangerous act that put the child’s life at risk, prompting the police to reopen the case and initiate action despite the incident being nearly a year old.
Pal was taken into custody on Tuesday, and the vehicle involved has been traced as part of the investigation. Police said further legal proceedings are underway in accordance with the law.
The case has once again highlighted concerns over reckless driving and child safety, with police reiterating that strict action will be taken against those found endangering lives on public roads.
