Bengaluru: A woman from Noida has sparked a conversation on social media after sharing her experience of walking near Bengaluru’s iconic Vidhana Soudha at around 2 am, describing the city as one where she felt safe even late at night.
The woman, identified as Shalini, posted a video on Instagram featuring her friend Anuja as the two walked along a largely deserted road in front of the illuminated Vidhana Soudha.
Woman praises Bengaluru’s late-night safety
In the video, Shalini compared her experience in Bengaluru with life in Noida, saying she would not have felt comfortable taking a similar walk late at night in her hometown.
She said the two friends were able to walk freely without facing eve-teasing, unwanted attention or feeling unsafe.
Pointing to the empty roads and the well-lit surroundings, she remarked that it felt as though they were taking an evening stroll despite it being around 2 am.
Traffic versus safety
During the conversation, Anuja joked that while Noida may have less traffic, Bengaluru’s traffic congestion remains a challenge.
Shalini responded that she would rather deal with traffic than compromise on personal safety, adding that feeling secure while walking outdoors at night was more important to her.
She also said the experience made her consider moving to Bengaluru, describing the city’s sense of security as one of its biggest attractions.

The video quickly attracted attention on social media, with many users agreeing that Bengaluru generally offers a reassuring environment for late-night movement in several parts of the city.
Others, however, noted that safety experiences can differ depending on the locality, time and individual circumstances, and stressed that every city continues to face challenges related to women’s safety.
