A video posted by Dhanbad resident Saloni Agarwal on Instagram has sparked intense backlash after she filmed her young son struggling to breathe while doing homework — and dismissed his distress as mere “drama.”
In the clip, her visibly upset son says, “Meri saans atak atak ke chal rahi hai” (I’m finding it hard to breathe). Saloni responds sarcastically, “You were breathing fine while playing earlier,” suggesting he was pretending to avoid studying. She even captioned the post with a mocking tone, calling his behavior “nautanki.”
What Saloni intended as light-hearted content quickly turned controversial. Netizens condemned her for ridiculing what appeared to be a genuine anxiety episode, not a tantrum.
“This isn’t drama — this is anxiety. You don’t mock your child’s cry for help,” one user wrote.
Another added, “This is not parenting. It’s performance at the cost of your child’s mental health.”
Social media users urged her to show compassion over content, pointing out that children need emotional support, not public shame. Many expressed concern about the psychological impact such moments can have on a child when turned into digital entertainment.
The video, instead of drawing laughs, has reignited discussions around empathy in parenting, child anxiety, and the ethical limits of posting personal family moments online.
