A major breakthrough for Kozhikode police came on Monday when they arrested a serial offender with nearly 70 criminal cases to his name. Cheriyekkara Veettil Jaison (55), infamously known as Tsunami Jaison, was caught during a routine vehicle inspection near the Ramanattukara bus stand.
Originally from Chettikulam, Kodassery in Chalakudy, Jaison was intercepted by Feroke police while riding a two-wheeler. When asked for vehicle documents, officers found discrepancies and soon discovered the bike was stolen from Kechery in Thrissur district. Upon questioning, Jaison admitted to the theft.
Further checks revealed Jaison’s long criminal past. He is a habitual offender booked in numerous theft, housebreaking, and robbery cases across Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad, and Ernakulam districts. He had previously been detained under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) and deported from Thrissur due to repeated offences.
Police had been on alert following reports of his presence in Kozhikode, and his arrest was carried out by the Feroke police team led by Inspector Sreejith, in coordination with the City Crime Squad under Feroke Assistant Commissioner Sidheeque.
Authorities say more investigations are underway to determine if Jaison was involved in recent thefts in the region.
