A video showing bystanders poking fingers through bullet holes in the car where NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot has sparked widespread outrage on social media. Shared by news agency PTI, the footage shows a person handling the crime scene carelessly, raising serious concerns about potential evidence tampering.
Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead by three assailants in Mumbai’s Bandra East area on Saturday night. Following the incident, he was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but was declared dead shortly after arrival.
Social media users criticized the police for failing to secure the crime scene. One user remarked, “The car is a crime scene… it should have been cordoned off,” while another labeled the situation “sheer incompetence.” Concerns were raised that allowing bystanders to touch the vehicle could compromise vital forensic evidence, including fingerprints and DNA, potentially weakening the legal case against the perpetrators.
The case has been transferred to the crime branch for investigation, with officials exploring various motives, including contract killing and business rivalry.
