A shocking incident unfolded near Garia on Tuesday afternoon, where a woman running a beauty parlour was allegedly hacked to death inside her shop by a man believed to have known her. The accused later died by suicide, police said.
Attack inside locked parlour
The victim, identified as Rupbani Das, in her 40s, had been operating the parlour in Tentultala for nearly 15 years. According to police, the accused entered the parlour, locked it from inside, and engaged in an altercation with her.
Eyewitnesses reported panic in the area as a parlour employee rushed out seeking help, informing nearby दुकानदारs that a man had confined himself inside with the owner.
Family alerted, door forced open
Rupbani’s husband, Anup Kumar Das, who had dropped her at work earlier in the day, rushed to the spot along with their son after being alerted.
They forced open the door and found Rupbani critically injured. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Accused dies after self-harm
The accused, identified as Pankaj, was found inside the parlour with severe injuries after allegedly slitting his own throat. He was rushed to hospital by police but later succumbed.
Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Relationship angle under probe
Police investigations suggest that the accused, originally from Haryana, had known the victim for several years. He had reportedly met her while selling shawls and is believed to have been in a relationship with her.
Officials suspect that the woman may have wanted to end the relationship, which could have led to the fatal confrontation.
Case registered
A murder case has been registered against the accused, along with an unnatural death case. Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and motive behind the crime.
