Hong Kong: Police have arrested a 39-year-old man after a pet parrot was found with bloody wounds and its wings clipped in Tseung Kwan O.
Injured parrot found on roadside
Police received a report at around 8.17 pm about an injured parrot opposite 18 Po Lam Road North.
Officers who arrived at the scene found the bird with its wings clipped and suffering from bleeding wounds.
Police suspected that the parrot had been mistreated and arrested its owner, a 39-year-old man surnamed Cheung, on suspicion of cruelty to animals.
Parrot placed under animal welfare care
Cheung remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
The case has been handed over to the fourth unit of the Tseung Kwan O District Police’s Crime Branch for further investigation.
The injured parrot has been placed in the care of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The circumstances surrounding the injuries and the manner in which the bird’s wings were clipped are being investigated.
