An Indian Railways passenger was confronted mid-journey after allegedly inserting an exposed wire into a coach switchboard to charge his phone and hanging his shoes on the luggage rack in a general compartment.
The incident, captured on video and shared on X by The Nalanda Index, has drawn widespread criticism online, with many calling the act reckless and potentially dangerous.
Exposed wire sparks safety concern
In the clip, the passenger is seen seated on the upper berth of a general coach, using a bare electrical wire to draw power from the switchboard. A fellow traveller notices the act and immediately questions the risk involved.
“Kisi ki jaan loge? Yeh aap sahi kar rahe ho?” the man is heard saying, warning that such negligence could endanger hundreds of lives, especially while the train is in motion.
He further cautions that leaving a bare wire connected to the switchboard could trigger a short circuit or fire hazard inside the moving coach.
Following the confrontation, the passenger removed the exposed wire and plugged in his charger properly.

The video was tagged to Railway Protection Force and Indian Railways, urging authorities to take strict action before such acts lead to serious consequences.
