A group of passengers traveling on Indian Railways sparked outrage online after they were allegedly caught concealing railway bedsheets and blankets in their luggage. A 30-second video, shared on Reddit by the account r/indianrailways, shows railway staff inspecting the passengers’ bags. One railway employee is heard saying, “Yeh bedsheet lekar jaa rahe hain (They are taking bedsheets)” while pointing to the bags, and another employee remarks, “Yeh dekho (Look at this)” as they remove the items from the luggage.
The video quickly gained attention on social media, with users criticizing the passengers’ actions. Many expressed their disapproval in the comments section, with one user noting, “People lack civic sense. Very strict rules, less socialism, less empathy is the only way to change the course of society.” Another commenter pointed out, “The IRCTC logo is marked on the blankets, yet people have the audacity to steal.”
Some users shared personal anecdotes, with one revealing that their PG owner in Delhi had a cupboard full of railway bedsheets, while another said their landlord, a bank manager, also possessed bedsheets and pillow covers with the Indian Railways logo.
The video has since gone viral, drawing widespread attention to the issue of passengers taking railway property without permission.
